Dr. April Hartman is a dedicated general pediatrician with a focus on behavioral health who has been serving the children of Georgia for over 20 years. As the Division Chief of General Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University, she leads efforts to enhance pediatric healthcare across the state. Additionally, Dr. Hartman holds the roles of Vice Chair for Advocacy and Associate Professor, reflecting her deep commitment to both medical education and community service.
Dr. Hartman's extensive leadership experience includes serving as Chief of Pediatrics in Donalsonville, GA, Medical Director and later Chief Medical Officer for Piedmont Columbus Regional Medical Group, and Medical Director for Ambulatory Pediatric Services at the Children's Hospital of Georgia in Augusta. Her leadership is characterized by a passionate commitment to advocacy and improving access to quality pediatric care.
Actively involved in her community, Dr. Hartman serves on several boards and committees that focus on child welfare and family support. She is a Board member for Child Enrichment, Inc., and Georgia Family Connection Partnership, and President of the Board of Directors for Harrisburg Family Medicine. Her participation in these organizations underscores her dedication to addressing the needs of children and families at the grassroots level.
Dr. Hartman's role as Chair of the Medicaid Taskforce for the Georgia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics has been particularly impactful. In 2022, she was honored with the American Academy of Pediatrics Excellence in Leadership and Advocacy Award, recognizing her significant contributions to pediatric healthcare policy and advocacy.
Believing that actions speak louder than words, Dr. Hartman continually seeks to learn and grow. She recently completed the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine Fellowship from Drexel University, enhancing her ability to lead and innovate in pediatric care. As a mentor and advisor, she guides faculty, residents, and medical students, fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals.
