Overview
Addiction Grand Rounds is a series of presentations by national and regional experts addressing barriers to effective treatment of substance abuse. Topics will include racial and economic disparity, lack of training and brief intervention, management of acute intoxication and withdrawal of varied illicit and prescribed substances, and how lack of integrated care has contributed to the current opiate epidemic.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Provide training to faculty residents and medical students on how they can identify and treat patients with substance abuse
  2. Enable providers to find ways to better integrate care for patients with co-occurring substance abuse and other illnesses.
  3. Identify and address the effects of racial and economic disparity on the quality of care

Accreditation
The Medical College of Georgia is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
