Overview

Describe advances in clinical genetic and molecular characteristics of various malignancies as they relate to pathophysiology, prognosis, and effective treatment strategies. Introduce new treatment paradigms in immunotherapy and CAR-T and cellular therapies. Review the integration of strategies for the rational and evidence-based combinations of surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and radiotherapy as we design the optimal management of pulmonary, breast, genitourinary and gynecological tumors. Describe new immunotherapeutic approaches to those tumors with driver mutations and mismatch repair-deficient characteristics. Review advances in genitourinary and gynecologic oncology. Introduce advanced management of brain tumors and future opportunities for experimental therapeutics, such oncolytic viruses. Explore new findings in hereditary cancer and how they may relate to risks, approaches to cancer prevention, and early detection strategies..

Registration:

Physician - $200.00

Non-Physician - $100.00

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Update our current immunotherapeutic strategies for cancer control with emphasis on Chimeric Antigen Receptor T Cell Therapy and promising additional Immunotherapy strategies.
  2. Discuss paradigm shifts in medical oncology as they have been influenced by the discovery of targetable driver mutations and recent clinical trials.
  3. Present the updated treatment guidelines for patients presenting with cancers of the head and neck, prostate, testis, ovary, lung, colon, brain and breast.
  4. Review relevant translational research and related phase one clinical trials that hold promise in expanding current available treatment options.
  5. Describe new surgical techniques that improve upon the diagnosis, staging, and resection of cancer, as well as speed recovery and favorably impact survival.
  6. Present appropriate strategies for incorporating the new oral anti-coagulants for prophylaxis and treatment of thromboembolic disorders
  7. Identify pertinent ongoing research in cancer treatment at GCC and elsewhere.
