The Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Simulation & Innovation Center is located at 417 W. Third Avenue, Albany, GA 31701

Rural obstetric care is a major health disparity in Georgia. Approximately 80% of maternal deaths are preventable with 22% of deaths occurred during pregnancy, 25% occurred on the day of delivery or within 7 days after, and 53% occurred between 7 days to 1 year after pregnancy. Bridging the Gap: Caring for Rural Georgia Moms will highlight the disparity, providing real-world training for the interprofessional rural health care team.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Discuss evaluation of pregnant and/or postpartum patients presenting to the Emergency Department
  2. Discuss the management of some common obstetrical emergencies in the ED
  3. Address common pitfalls and risk mitigation considerations in OB emergency care

Hone your skills in managing postpartum hemorrhage, making rapid decisions, and working as a team to save lives in a high-pressure, lifelike scenario. Don't worry—it's just a simulation!
  2. Hidden Struggles: Navigating Intimate Partner Violence in Pregnancy This tabletop case discussion explores the challenges of identifying and managing intimate partner violence during pregnancy. Participants will practice trauma-informed care, refine screening techniques, and develop strategies to support patient safety and autonomy.
  3. Breech Basics: Hands-On Delivery Mastery: Get hands-on with this task trainer session focused on breech deliveries! Practice key techniques, build confidence, and refine your skills to navigate this challenging and rewarding obstetric scenario.
  4. How Do You Treat That Pregnant Mom Who Just Fell?    Learn to place non-invasive fetal monitoring equipment, perform an ultrasound assessment, and receive expert advice on interpreting the results to ensure optimal care for both mom and baby.
  5. Emergency Vascular Access In this hands-on interactive lab, you'll practice IO access and ultrasound-guided vascular access for both a mother and her baby.
  6. Mom's Not Breathing, Now What? Uh-Oh Baby's Not Breathing Either, Now What? Participate in hands-on practice with experts for both adult and neonatal intubation.
