Overview

Are you buried or planted? Are we planting seeds with purpose to strengthen healthcare outcomes? Register now (PFCC Conference Registration) for the 19th Annual Patient- and Family-Centered Care Conference to learn about Seeds of Change: Cultivating What Matters Most - Tuesday, March 4 (9:30 am-12:30 pm / Lee Auditorium).

‘Seeds of Change: Cultivating What Matters Most’ uncovers hidden gaps that quietly influence patient trust, workforce engagement, and organizational outcomes. Participants will learn how to grow organizational success and meaningful connections to what matters most to our patients and families through lived experiences. In healthcare, the seeds we plant—through our decisions, processes, and daily interactions—shape the experience of care for our patients and those who care for them.

Discover best healthcare practices by cultivating the right conditions for compassion to take root, collaboration to grow strong, and patient- and family-centered care to flourish—driving quality, safety, and patient experience outcomes.

Seeds of Change uncover what Stephanie Abbott, healthcare executive leader, nationally renowned speaker and author, has discovered as she brings to life concepts from her book, Buried or Planted. Through compelling storytelling and real-world insight, Stephanie challenges leaders and team members to consider whether adversity holds us back—or helps us grow stronger and more purposeful in our work.

Stephanie, and our own WMCG colleagues, highlight key concepts that determine whether our system merely survives or thrives. When we listen deeply, partner intentionally, communicate with empathy, and honor the voices of patients and families, we create the conditions for growth, healing, and trust by nurturing those in our care.

Seeds of Change: Cultivating What Matters Most challenges us to examine best practices, through lived experiences, that are thoughtful, patient- and family-centered, and evidence-based to explore how even the smallest, yet intentional actions can transform patient encounters, strengthen outcomes, and renew purpose across our care settings.

When we listen deeply, partner intentionally, communicate with empathy, and honor the voices of patients and families, we create the conditions for growth, healing, and trust by nurturing those in our care.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify common consumer and patient experience gaps that influence patient trust, workforce engagement, and organizational outcomes.
  2. Analyze the relationship between patient and staff experiences and key performance indicators, including quality, operations, and financial performance.
  3. Explain how organizational metrics, policies, and processes can unintentionally create friction in the patient experience.
