Overview

The MCG Clinical Conversations & Educator Engagement Series – FQHC, CHC, Family Medicine & Psychiatry session is designed to strengthen the capacity of primary care and behavioral health clinicians serving Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), Community Health Centers (CHCs), Family Medicine, and Psychiatry practices—particularly in rural and resource-limited settings. This series focuses on practical, evidence-based strategies to enhance integrated care, improve patient safety, and address complex behavioral health needs in primary care settings.

Through focused discussions in Rural Behavioral Health, participants will explore evidence-based approaches to improve assessment, intervention, referral pathways, and follow-up care for patients with behavioral health concerns. The session on Safety Planning in Adolescents emphasizes developing actionable care and safety plans for youth at elevated behavioral health risk, incorporating effective counseling techniques, thorough documentation, and coordination with families and community supports.

The Addiction in Primary Care component equips clinicians with current best practices for identifying and managing substance use disorders and related conditions, including treatment planning and facilitating connections to long-term recovery supports. Finally, Treatment-Resistant Depression addresses strategies for evaluating and managing complex depressive disorders, with an emphasis on adapting care plans to local resources, access limitations, and patient-specific factors to improve outcomes.

Collectively, this series promotes collaborative, patient-centered, and context-sensitive behavioral health care that strengthens clinical confidence, enhances educator engagement, and improves outcomes across diverse primary care settings.

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:
