This symposium was designed to update all healthcare providers involved in the care of stroke patients (Emergency Physicians, Neurohospitalists, General Hospitalists, Primary Care Physicians, General Medicine Physicians, Advanced Care Providers, Nurses, Emergency Medical Personnel, and trainees).


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Guide the hospital management of stroke patients.
  2. Review the triage of acute stroke patients.
  3. Describe the roles of intravenous and intra-arterial therapies in acute stroke.
  4. Identify stroke patients who are likely to benefit from neurosurgical interventions.
  5. Optimize treatment for patients with intracranial atherosclerosis.
  6. Optimize secondary stroke prevention with medications and lifestyle changes.
  7. Discuss latest developments and ongoing clinical stroke research.

Accreditation
The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Deposit:

Each reservation must be guaranteed by a deposit equal to one night’s lodging (plus 12.5% tax) payable to the Kiawah Island Resort. The Kiawah Island Resort will confirm your reservation directly to you when your deposit is received. If the type of accommodation you request is sold out, the most appropriate lodging available will be reserved for you. Your deposit must be received within five days if not paid by major credit card. All rates are subject to 12.5% tax. Cancellations must be received 14 days prior to arrival date for refund of deposit.

There is a daily resort fee of 9% per villa per night which includes: all on island transportation to resort owned venues for groups and individual use via the existing fleet of resort vehicles, access to the villa fitness center and the villa resort pools as well as all 800 and local calls, credit card access calls, and in-room coffee. Transportation hours are 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM. An hourly charge of $150.00 per 10-14 passenger sprinter van (one hour minimum) is applicable beyond those times. Transportation fee is subject to change. The transportation fee has been waived for shuttles prior to 7am.
