Overview

The Medical College of Georgia’s Northwest (NW) Campus is proud to present the Neurology Symposium on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Coosa Country Club in Rome, Georgia.

This dynamic half-day event begins at 1:00 PM with a welcome from NW Campus Dean Paul Brock, M.D., followed by opening remarks from MCG Dean David Hess, M.D. The symposium will feature four in-depth case presentations led by NW Campus medical students, each focusing on a major neurological condition: epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, stroke, and dementia.

For each case, students will present the history, physical findings, and current state of care, followed by expert faculty discussing the future direction of diagnosis, treatment, and management. Dr. Danielle Weiss will discuss the evolving landscape of epilepsy care, while Dr. Zachary Rohm will share future insights on multiple sclerosis. Faculty development, evaluation procedures, and CME credit information will be provided by Michelle Krupp, Ph.D., prior to a scheduled break at 3:00 PM.

The symposium resumes at 3:30 PM with a case on stroke, featuring commentary on neurointerventional options by Dr. Jose Marino Granados and future perspectives by Dr. Jeffrey Switzer, Chair of Neurology at MCG. Dr. David Hale will present on emerging treatments such as vagus nerve implant stimulation. The final session will explore dementia, with students outlining the current state and Dr. Ashish Kabir addressing future developments.

The event will conclude at 5:30 PM with a Q&A and closing remarks from Dr. David Hess and Dr. Paul Brock. This symposium offers a collaborative and forward-thinking educational experience for learners, faculty, and clinicians alike.
