This two-day CME event will highlight advances in cardiovascular medicine and is designed for practicing Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers who care for patients with cardiovascular disease The course will address percutaneous and surgical interventions available for cardiovascular disease. Attendees will gain knowledge of current tertiary heart and cardiovascular care.


Objectives

We are so excited to add the abstract competition this year to our cardiovascular educational event.  The deadline is September 28th to submit your abstract(s) and connect with key stakeholders while presenting your research on the cardiovascular topic of your choice.  We are looking forward to reviewing your submission(s) and seeing how the study of cardiovascular disease has inspired you!  Please read through the competition guidelines and if you have any questions reach out to Amanda Gunn at [email protected]



2025 CARDIOVASCULAR SHOWCASE ABSTRACT COMPETITION GUIDELINES

All fellows, residents and trainees with a Cardiovascular related focus are invited to submit an abstract or case-based presentation for a Complex Clinical or Challenging Interventional Case for consideration and presentation at the 10th Annual MCG Faculty & Graduate Cardiovascular Showcase being held October 24th-25th, 2025. The conference and competition will be held at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Augusta, GA.

Submission Guidelines

  • There will be 2 award categories this year: one for Best Basic Science Abstract and one for Best Clinical Research Abstract/Case.
  • All submissions must be submitted to [email protected] AFTER registering for the conference via the CME website.
  • Submissions will be accepted from June 5th, 2025 through the night of September 28th (they will be reviewed on the 29th).
  • Accepted submissions for oral presentation will be announced by early October 2025 and the winners will be announced at the end of the conference on Saturday afternoon.
  • To submit, the presenter is required to register for free for the conference and if selected will present their abstract in person at the conference.
  • A submission constitutes a commitment by the author(s) to present at the 2025 Cardiovascular Showcase if accepted.
  • Submissions must be in English.
  • The presenter will have 8 minutes to present and 4-5 minutes for Q&A.
  • Only Abstracts/Cases that have not been previously presented or published at other national or international meetings prior to the 2025 Showcase are eligible for submission. They must describe original scientific material.
  • The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content before submission.
  • Presentations MUST conform to specific size limits, or they will remain in an incomplete status and will not be reviewed. Your Abstract/Case may not contain more than 1,900 characters, not including spaces. A graphic, table or image equals 600 characters and is included as part of the 1,900-character limit.
    • Graphics should be high resolution and have a file type of “gif”, “jpg”, or “jpeg”.
    • Please keep in mind that large and/or complex graphics may not be readable in print or electronic formats.
    • There should be no “white space” or border around the graphic.
  • Use a Calibri or Times New Roman font for text and Symbol font for symbols (DO NOT USE A THIRD-PARTY SYMBOL FONT); any other fonts will not be accepted. Set all text as flush left, unjustified, and wrapping text as you type. Do NOT place hard returns at the end of each line.
  • Please proofread carefully for factual, spelling, and size errors. If accepted, the Abstract/Case will be displayed as it was submitted. No changes will be made to the submitted and accepted Abstracts/Cases.
  • Any human experimentation must conform to the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki of the World Medical Association. If any such experimentation is undertaken, the presenting author must be able to provide copies of informed consents signed by human participants.
  • The Program Committee endorses the position of the American Association for the Advancement for Science in requiring assurances of the responsible use of animals in research. All submissions for consideration must be in compliance with these guidelines.
  • The research abstract/case must be presented in the following sequence, using the headings listed:
    • Background & aims: In an initial paragraph, provide relevant information regarding the background and purpose of the study, preferably in no more than one or two sentences.
    • Methods: Briefly state the methods used.
    • Results: Summarize the results in sufficient detail to support the conclusions.
    • Conclusion: State the conclusions reached. It is not satisfactory to state “the results will be discussed.”

    • Strengths/limitation
    • References if applicable
    • Ethical Permissions - Ethical Approval is required for all animal research and for human research when the research study involves patients, children, incompetent/incapacitated persons, healthy volunteers, immigrants, or others, or when the research uses/collects human or animal genetic material, biological samples or personal data.
  • The clinical case report must be presented in the following sequence:
    • Background: Clinical background and relevance of this case
    • Clinical history: Brief clinical history of case
    • Findings: Key pertinent findings & diagnosis
    • Take away message or conclusion
    • References if applicable

Conflicts of Interest/Disclosure

Submitters will be required to declare any conflict of interest in their presentation at the 2025 Cardiovascular Showcase. The presenter will have to create a MCG.Cloud account and fill out COI disclosure after registering for the conference. Failure of presenter to provide disclosure information will result in the removal of an accepted abstract from the conference. Disclosure of financial relationships that the author(s) may have with the manufacturer/supplier of any commercial products or services related to the work.

CME

Presentations/attendees are only eligible for Continuing Education credits if the presenter/attendees need CME credits and registers using one of the CME eligible registration options.

Withdrawals

To withdraw a submission, notification must be sent to Amanda Gunn at [email protected] prior to October 9th, 2025. This notification must include the title, authors, and affiliations (as submitted), and the name, affiliation, phone, and e-mail of the submitter.
